Bill Martin has been involved in the storage industry for 30 years, starting in 1983 with the development of a proprietary optical storage interface for HP, architecting the HP Tachyon interface chip for Fibre Channel, serving on industry consortium and standards bodies for storage including SNIA, INCITS T11, INCITS T10, INCITS T13, SATA-IO, and NVMe for HP, Gadzoox Networks, Brocade, Sierra Logic, Emulex, and Samsung. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from the University of California, Davis. Bill is Vice Chair of the SNIA Technical Council, Vice Chair of the INCITS T10, SCSI Storage Interfaces Technical Committee, Secretary of the INCITS T13, AT Attachment Technical Committee, and editor of SCSI Block Commands – 4 (SBC-4). Previous positions within the storage community include Chair of the SNIA Data Integrity TWG , Vice Chair of INCITS T11.3, Fibre Channel Interconnection Schemes, Secretary INCITS T11, Fibre Channel Interfaces Technical Committee. Additionally, Bill led Fibre Channel interoperability events for over 17 years, and participated in the SNIA interoperability lab in the early 2000’s.
